This is the number one concern with new breastfeeding mums

“IS MY BABY GETTING ENOUGH AND HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE A LOW SUPPLY?”

Have a listen below for a few tips on boosting your milk supply.

The first thing to consider is whether you actually have low milk supply?

Is baby:

  • happy and seeming satisfied after a feed and not crying and pulling at the breast
  • having about 6 to 8 feed per day
  • gaining weight
  • Having regular wet nappies

Then this suggests that your milk supply is pretty much on target. If baby is having a growth spurt they will feed a lot more and this can sometimes make mums to feel that baby is not getting at enough at each feed but the indicators of wet nappies and gaining weight can really put your mind at ease.

Ways to increase your milk supply:

  • regular skin to skin
  • rest
  • hydration
  • nutrition
  • regular or frequent feeding
