I am a Chiropractor

Holding space and honouring women as they transition across the threshold into motherhood is a culmination of the last 25 years of heart work for me.

“ I am truly passionate about sharing the wonderful journey of pregnancy, birth and motherhood with my clients.”

When I became a chiropractor, my favourite clients were pregnant women. I just loved being in the vibe of pregnancy and babies. I found that so many of my clients actually experienced a more comfortable pregnancy with chiropractic care. I continued my professional development in this area and my practice thrived.

When I became pregnant with my first child 20 years ago, I added yoga to my care routine as well as regular chiropractic care. Twenty years ago, in inner city Melbourne, prenatal yoga wasn’t really a thing – so I attended general yoga classes taught by an older guy. It planted a seed. I remember thinking that I would love to teach pregnancy yoga to cater to the specific needs of women at this stage of life.

Fast forward to a traumatic augmented birth which ended in a C-section. I was separated from my baby for hours, was pretty much stoned on morphine for my entire hospital today and then ended up with postnatal depression soon after. Which nobody talked about.

With no family in Melbourne and girlfriends all at different stages of life, I felt very alone and to be honest, quite clueless about what to do with a new baby. The only thing I seemed to have sorted was breastfeeding. Healing second and third births helped, as did moving back to Adelaide to be closer to family – ahh the benefits of a village!
Nest Birth and Wellbeing - Amanda

During my second and third pregnancies I attended prenatal yoga and loved how it made me feel. I also loved the community a prenatal yoga class created. Soon after, I studied to become a prenatal yoga teacher and then opened a studio in Adelaide. It grew to become a destination studio for pregnancy and mums & bubs yoga classes.

I trained as a childbirth educator and my Yoga for Labour & Birth Workshops were my early version of my current Nest Active Birth Workshops. Clients regularly asked me to attend their births so I trained as a birth doula. Each step has led to the next and I have loved supporting women during this amazing time of their lives.

That’s how Nest Birth & Wellbeing came to be. It led to the creation of the Nest approach to a beautiful birth and motherhood experience using my trilogy of bodywork, mindset and education.

In this nest you will find support for each stage of your journey, from conception to motherhood.
